The SMART Lab now has 12 subscriptions to the Bloomberg Professional service.

"RIBBON CUTTING" CEREMONY HELD FOR SMART LAB ADDITIONS

    September 7, 2011

BATON ROUGE - The LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business held a "ribbon cutting" ceremony August 26, 2011 to announce that the Securities Markets Analysis Research and Trading Lab now has 12 subscriptions to the Bloomberg Professional service, the  platform used by more than 300,000 leading business and financial professionals worldwide to make informed business decisions.

Students can now access an unprecedented amount of data, news, research, analytics and multimedia events via the Bloomberg Professional service at 2301 Patrick F. Taylor Hall. The SMART Lab previously had only two subscriptions to the Bloomberg Professional service.

Deke Carbo, who earned his bachelor’s in accounting from LSU in 1980, was one of the donors who made the additions possible.

“Everyone who participated in this project did so because they were excited to find a meaningful way to give back to LSU,” Carbo said. “We were all able to support the expansion of the SMART Lab in part because of the education we received at LSU.”

Luke LaHaye, Student Finance Association President and Senior in Finance, says the added access to the Bloomberg Professional service will allow students to finish class projects in a more timely and efficient manner.

“On behalf of my classmates and me, I would like to thank the donors for providing us with additional subscriptions to the Bloomberg Professional service that will expand what we can do in the classroom,” LaHaye said.

“Generous donors allowed us to purchase additional subscriptions to the Bloomberg Professional service,” said SMART Lab Director Gary Sanger.

The Department of Finance at LSU’s E. J.
